The largest portable inflatable boat on the market, Newport Vessels 12’6 Catalina model inflatable sport boat is the largest of the Newport Vessels fleet of roll-ups. The Catalina is designed for professional uses like water patrol as well recreational uses like diving, fishing, and long distance cruising. To test the durability and performance of the 12’6” Catalina model, three men took the 12’6” Catalina model sport boat on a 50 mile round trip voyage from Newport Beach harbor to the Island of Catalina located 25 miles off the coast of California (April 8th, 2011).

The 18” tubes and 5’9” width made for a smooth and balanced ride throughout the trip. The trip was made using a 20hp Honda 4 stroke (15” shaft) outboard. Speeds of 26+ mph where achieved. The high-pressure inflatable keel allows the inflatable boat to reach maximum performance while banking, turning, and accelerating. The wide design also makes for a very stable and sturdy ride when used with a trolling motor or small outboard for more simple cruising applications.
The material used to construct the Newport Vessels Catalina model is triple layered 1,100 denier PVC. What's this mean? It means we use the same materials as recreational white water rafts. In fact we use an extra layer of polyester in our boats to give the material more flexibility for when folding up and storing away. Since our boats are made with the same materials, same construction methods, and techniques, our boats are just as durable as white water rafts. Our boats are made to be dragged up on shore, run into docks, and to keep up with the wear and tear of boating.
